How to use Scrabble Word Finder: Every Word Your Rack Can Play, step by step

  1. Enter your letters. Type your letters, including any blank tiles, into the box at the top of the tool.
  2. Review the results. Matching words appear automatically, grouped by length and sorted by score.
  3. Copy the word you want. Click any result to copy it to your clipboard.

A Scrabble word finder checks your rack of up to seven tiles, plus any blanks, against a dictionary and returns every word you can legally play, ranked by length and tile value so the strongest plays are easy to spot first.

Built around a standard Scrabble rack

Scrabble racks hold seven tiles. Type in exactly what you're holding, including ? or * for each blank, and every valid word your letters can form appears immediately, longest and highest scoring first.

A worked example

A rack of RIPANTE plays out to three seven letter words that use the whole rack at once, PAINTER, PERTAIN and REPAINT, worth a full rack bonus, plus a long list of shorter backups if none of those fit the board.

Clearing your whole rack for the bonus

Using every tile on your rack in a single play earns a bonus in tournament Scrabble. Switch on Use every tile in the options to see only the words that clear your entire rack at once, or leave it off to see every shorter word hiding in your letters too.

Which dictionary this checks against

Results come from ENABLE, a free, public-domain word list built for word-game software, a close but not word-for-word match to licensed tournament lists like NWL or Collins Scrabble Words. See Check Dictionary for how they compare.

Frequently asked questions

How do I use a Scrabble word finder?

Type in your rack, up to seven letters, using ? or * for any blank tiles, and every legal word your letters can form appears automatically, sorted by length and score.

Does this account for the Scrabble board's bonus squares?

No, it only finds words your rack can legally form. It doesn't know your specific board layout, so use your own judgment for where to place a word.

What happens when I use all seven tiles in one play?

That's a bingo, and it earns a bonus on top of the word's normal score in tournament Scrabble. Switch on Use every tile to search specifically for those plays.

Is this the official Scrabble dictionary?

No. It uses ENABLE, a free, public-domain word list, which is close to but not identical to licensed lists like NWL or Collins Scrabble Words. See Check Dictionary for details.

Is using a Scrabble word finder considered cheating?

It depends on the setting. Casual games with friends usually don't mind; tournament and rated play typically doesn't allow outside tools mid-game.

Is this tool free?

Yes, completely free, with no account or download required.

Is this affiliated with Scrabble, Hasbro, or Mattel?

No. Scrabble is a trademark of Hasbro and Mattel depending on region. This is an independent, unaffiliated tool.

Can I filter results by a starting or ending letter?

Yes, open the filters for Starts with and Ends with, plus Must include for a letter that has to appear anywhere in the word.
